dcbel raises $50M+ In Series B
Verdigris secures $10 Million
🌟PropTech Star of the week: Renco is a structural building system of various units (like lego blocks) composed of mineral composite fiber.

🙌This week’s edition is brought to you by…

The European PropTech Association is an alliance of 24 National PropTech networks in Europe.
Their mission is to harmonize the fragmented European PropTech market, to strengthen the European PropTech economy, and to help European institutions create a legal framework adapted to new technologies while fostering innovations in Real Estate.
The EU PropTech Association is here to help startups accelerate growth in new European markets.

❗Highlights in PropTech
dcbel raises $50M+ In Series B
dcbel empowers homeowners to take control of their energy by leveraging renewable assets such as solar panels, stationary batteries and their electric vehicle (EV) to avoid blackouts, save money when energy prices peak, and earn money while contributing to the stability of the grid.
The dcbel r16 Home Energy Station is a home energy solution, which, along with bidirectional EV charging, provides a solar and stationary battery inverter with built-in artificial intelligence capabilities.
Learning from a home’s historical energy consumption data, the device can predict energy needs and secure the cleanest electricity at the lowest cost.
Verdigris secures $10 Million
Verdigris Technologies provides a hardware-enabled SaaS solution for enterprises with substantial carbon emissions. By integrating advanced sensor technology, cloud software and AI, its platform delivers real-time, circuit-level energy monitoring and data analysis to enhance operational efficiency and enable precise tracking, monitoring, and reduction of Scope 2 emissions, while maintaining compliance with emerging disclosure requirements.

🌟PropTech Star of the week: Renco

Renco has developed an innovative structural building system known as RENCO MCFR (Mineral Composite Fiber Reinforced). Rather than sticking to traditional construction methods, Renco utilizes a LEGO inspired interlocking building block system composed of composite fiber elements. These range from blocks, columns, and beams, to decking, connectors, and more. A strong adhesive bonding process ensures these components come together to form a durable, lasting, and code-compliant structure.
The RENCO Structural Building System has undergone rigorous testing in ANSI certified labs, conforming to ASTM standards. This encompasses structural performance, physical characteristics, and fire resistance. IAPMO-UES allows the system to be used under the International Building Code (IBC).

Renco
One particularly impressive aspect is that RENCO products are manufactured with naturally occurring raw materials and recycled products in an environmentally friendly manufacturing process. Furthermore, it is easy to work with, fast to construct, and has superior strength. The carbon footprint of RENCO Products is a fraction of conventional structural building systems.
The RENCO Structural Building System currently can include up to five (5) story structures. Through continued research and development, expanded approvals are in process, with full approval to build up to eight (8) stories expected by the end of 2023.
What do we like?
Construction efficiency - Renco’s products are less costly than traditional methods and facilitate faster construction completion times while maintaining code compliant strength standards
Sustainable - Renco’s products are composed of raw and recycled materials that are resistant to water, mold, and pests, which often cause critical damage to the structural integrity of traditional homes
Simple to use - The building block system is color-coded and intuitive to use, thereby minimizing the cost to train and manage building processes.

Renco’s attributes
What are the risks?
Despite the potential benefits, as with any regulated industry (especially the homebuilding industry), any changes in regulations could impact Renco’s operations. Furthermore, Renco is not mass produced yet, with recent funding intended to build their first manufacturing plant.
Adoption Rate - As with any new technology, the rate at which the construction industry adopts Renco's system remains to be seen.
Pricing - Renco will need to prove the cost and time saving impacts of their system compared to traditional methods
Manufacturing Capability - Manufacturing capacity and quality will need to be maintained in order to effectively disrupt a high-consumption industry like construction
Overall
Renco is an exciting startup that has relatively few risks of failure, given their high value and low competitive positioning. Their patented IP puts them in an even better position for a first mover advantage.
Overall, I am optimistic about Renco’s potential in the homebuilding industry and would definitely give it a tr, if it means faster and more efficient construction.
